Bates Container is now SFI Certified and will continue to support and initiate environmentally responsible practices in our company and industry.
Bates Container's Longview Plant was opened in November of 2004 in order to
serve East Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas. As approximately
95% of the corrugated sheets come from Bates North Richland Hills, this
facility has the flexibility of a sheet plant and the low cost advantages of a
box plant.
Mark Sanders, Chairman, and Linda Timmons, President & CEO, both knew that there was great potential to grow in East Texas. After scouting out several locations for a new facility, they chose Longview based on its quality of living and central location. In late 2004, Sanders and Timmons sent Barry Hamblett to Longview to establish a new plant and build a team. Mr. Hamblett has been in the corrugated industry for over 20 years and with Bates since 1990. He was an ideal choice to head our new facility and grew up in East Texas. Mr. Hamblett was right at home in Longview and immediately landed several key accounts, hired 9 employees in the plant, 3 in the office and 3 in sales.
In July, 2005, Barry Hamblett and his group began production at Bates Container Longview with a brand new 3-color flexo folder-gluer. They have consistently expanded their business and capabilities since that time. In 06' a brand new 66", 3-color die-cutter was added to their arsenal. By early 2007, Bates Longview became a major corrugated sheet plant in the region. Our proximity to our customers allows us to better serve them and deliver the quality they expect from Bates Container.
